I painted a similar picture 3 or 4 years ago and after seeing it again I really wanted to give it another attempt!

An underwing is a species of moth that has a bright orange pair of under wings. I think they’re really interesting. I’ve never seen one before. It was fun to paint! A small slice of Heaven I grew 2 or 3 years ago and am still thinking about.

Final painting will be mounted on conservator grade gatorboard with BEVA film hanging in an artist made frame with identification, hanging wire, and paper backing. Painting will be varnished and signed.
Painting is fresh, and must cure to be properly shipped without damage. Wait times vary - oil cannot be controlled, only manipulated. Not painted thickly, so it should be done in a couple of months.
I painted this in late 2024 and finished it in February 2025. Handmade canvas stretchers and premium duck canvas. Varnished with GAMVAR Satin. Unframed. For framing please email me @ mail@mattsmithmakes.com. Deposit required for custom framing. Ships on 2/19 after varnish has dried!
